it's MONKEYS ACROSS AMERICA (our 2008 tour blog) |
Day
| ||||
| So, this is it. We're on I-5, Southern Daron is driving, Heat Stroke is gazing out the window and smiling and Night Rider is typing these words. Daron just put on the song "The Bluest Skies Youve Ever Seen, In Seattle," just the kind of Mystical thing you'd expect from him- he probably loaded it into his iPod the moment we decided we were touring, just for this moment. We're at Boeing Field now. The song just ended and now Daron is putting on the radio and the radio presets actually WORK! Yeah, there's KUOW, right where we left it! 81 degrees and a few clouds in Seattle at 2:06, he says. Exit 161 now, Swift-Albro, meaning we're just a moment away from the Southern vista of the city. Jeremy Richards just came on the radio- we really are home! We know him! And now, you can't see it, but we are turning the corner to the right, past signs for the West Seattle Bridge, Past the exit for I-90 (we've taken it), and THERE! IT! IS! Home. Sweet. Home. You've got to imagine it because there's no time to stop typing. It's a hot summer day, the Mariners are playing (losing?) with the top down. You can't hear it, but we're each sighing, moaning, gasping at the sight of our dear, dear city. This is it. The trip is over. The blog has ended. Our beds (sweet, sweet beds!) await... Ladies and gentlemen, Recess Monkey is home. | ||||
